Things are happening

February 11th, 2007

Just got back from Ski trip with The Boy (Wife and Girl stayed behind - hopefully for the last time).  The Boy can now ski unassisted - and I have the pics/video to prove it.  Will post shortly.

More news to come, as it happens…

Ok so it’s been a while….

All I have to say for myself is…

…..

Wii

Ya’ll can come over anytime.

Does that make it better?

Get ready for 142…

November 16th, 2006

We’ll be hitting the road tomorrow (hopefully closer to noon) for the 7-10 hour drive up north for the Most Played Rivalry in all of College Football.  Yes, it’s that time again, where the Leopards of Laughayette College loose to the Engineers (aka Chicken, I mean, Mountain Hawks) of Lehigh University.  This 142nd rendition has the Patriot league title on the line - winner keeps playing in the newly renamed Football Championship Series (FCS), formally 1AA Championships, and loser cries in their beer.

The Game, as it is known, will be played in Easton, which is Laffy’s home turf.  As such, their stadium has no indoor plumbing or parking (really, I’m not just saying that to be an a$$), and we can not bring our two progeny to such a place.  Instead, we will go up, drink and be merry with old friends, and watch the game on TV.

And now, the cheer…

Go Engineers!  Go Engineers!

Hit’em down the log….Naturally!

Ok Mr. Adam Smith. Let’s see your precious theories in action…

October 11th, 2006

Well, it has happened.  We now have TWO, yes, more then one, less then three (with five being right out) homes for sale.

Take that Sunk-cost fallacy…(See KNox & Inkster)
Click HERE to see original VA home still for sale.

Click HERE to see NC home for sale (new listing, pictures to be added as we clean the house ;-)
Now to see which way the wind blows…

The Boy ™ now has Tear Ducts!

October 6th, 2006

Today, The Boy ™ went in for surgery to see what could be done to reduce the quantity and severity of eye infections caused by his being born without a complete drainage duct in one of his eyes.  Alas, I gave him said defect, as I have the same problem, except none of my infections ever put me in the hospital.

After 2 hours of surgery, we were told by the doctor that they found his duct ended at the nose - it never formed a path through the bone.  So they made one, and he now has a ultra-small silicone tube as a stint for scar-tissue to form around and create a path for drainage.  Essentially, they have made a duct.  Time will tell if it works, but all indications are that at a minimum, the mega infections should be no more.

Of course, he looks like he got socked in the eye.  I’m trying to teach him to tell people “You should see the other guy…” .  His spirits are VERY high, and his demeaner is inspiring.  Hopefully, he will no longer need to devote such strength to this aspect of his life.

Hey ChickenHawks - What Happened????

September 30th, 2006

One win out of Four tries?  Almost only counts in horsehoes and hand-grenades, so none of this “wha-wha they were all close games wha-wha” crap that I know I’m about to hear.

For that matter, Let me give another shout out to the Patriot League:

WhatWhatWHAAAAAT???  Are we going to have ANY playoff team this year?  I know we get an automatic bid, but when HOLY CROSS is tied for first place, something has gone horribly wrong. I understand the Ivies have strong teams this year, but letting the Northeast Conference beat up on you (Albany?  Friggin MONMOUTH?) is just no good.

Summary of the last few weeks…

September 23rd, 2006

It’s been a while.  Have a lot going on, and I will attempt to update with this post.

First the family.  The wife is ok - just dealing with stress, as am I.

The Boy (TM) is using the potty regularly, and last night was his first without a diaper.  We awoke to find him in a dry bed.  Progress is wonderful.

The Girl (TM) is growing.  She is a little plump, but nothing to be concerned about.  Very active, Very vocal, and still cute as a button.

Now then.  The real meat and potatos.  The house in VA still has not sold.  No movement on the rental front either.  So, we’ve come to a conclusion - Do nothing is no longer an option.  Should October 1st come and go with no leads on the house up there, we will list the house down here.  The Market will decide our fate.  There are tons and tons of ramifications that are still being thought out, but ultimately we are left with very little choice - One house has got to go.

On a personal note (it is my blog), I do want to stay here.  I like the location and the access to many things (beach, arts, healthcare, RDU 1.5 hours away), and I think this location is much more future proof then our last.  We just can’t make it work for too much longer, and it became clear that we needed to take steps to get things in motion while “too much longer” is still in play.

The Worst appears over…

September 1st, 2006

We dropped about 250 lbs of tree-limbs in our front yard (from a tree that is 40 ft tall, 3 feet in diameter, and oh yeah, dead.  Removal was scheduled for yesterday, but as you can tell, it didn’t happen).  No damage, and just LOTS of water.

I say good day to you, Sr. Ernesto.
