Update
Still going to keep details at a minimum, but here is an update.
Offer#3 is still out there - It was actually supposed to be Offer#1, as a verbal “We will get you an offer shortly” was uttered to me 17 days ago. I called them 3 days ago (2 week anni), and they said that they were still putting the package together. This is a local opportunity…
I attempted to turn down Offer#1 3 days ago. It was purely based on location - it is in an area that is very sparsely populated (industry wise), and is about 90 miles from the nearest metro area. The concern is with the wife finding a position at all. So I let them know that I could not accept their offer in that location. They responded that they would:
a) consider wife for a position at the same location
b) consider wife and I for positions at their other location, which is in a much more desireable area
So, they rejected my non-acceptance
Offer#2 is a good offer in a location we are familiar with. Relo is an issue only because of their package - the move is covered, but nothing else. As some of you know, a relo is not cheap, but neither are the associated costs of selling/buying a home and temporary living. Offer#1 would, in their words, “Not allow me to spend a dime during the process”.

You sound like George Costanza trying to break up with a woman. “I’m breaking up with you.” “No, you’re not.” “Okay, then.”
Andy: I won’t take the job.
New Boss: Yes, you will.
Andy: Okay, then.
I hope you get an incredible offer that will leave you wondering why you stayed so long at your last position.
