My take on the “Cartoons”

Ok.  I have posted on Zamoose’s site about this, and I wanted to post here as well.

I do think that it was in poor taste to solicit drawings of Mohammed, and probably not the greatest idea to publish all of them.  But they did, and so be it.  I think the reaction of the Muslim community as a whole has been a little over the top, however the reaction of those outside of “The West” are downright apalling.

It’s one thing to be rightfully offended and to voice your offense and even boycott the persons who have carried out this offense.  It is entirely different to demand censure by governments, make threats of violence, or carry out such threats and or rioting in the streets.  Especially when the medium (political cartoons) in question is one of which you are regularly accostumed to seeing equally vulgar and offensive drawings (regarding Israel) without raising a whimper.

For me, it boils down to this: I respect anyone’s personal choices - religious or not.  I want others to offer me the same respect.  So if I invite a vegetarian over for dinner, I may not serve meet at all, or if I do, I will definitely have an alternative available for ALL, just just for them.  And as is usually the case, said vegetarian would not object to me eating anything other then veggies in their presence.

So why do some people (in this case, Muslim) feel they can force others to participate in their ban on drawing the prophet?  Are their sensibilities so fragile?  Are they going to demand an end to all photos of pork in advertising wherever a muslim may be?

I say this with much tongue-in-cheekyness, but I am also serious in my point: Those who are complaining the loudest aren’t playing fair.  They laugh when Israel or the US is the target, but destroy buildings and make death threats when they are made fun of.  How would they react if I organized a protest and had everyone chanting “Death to (fill in the blank); Jesus be praised”?  I highly doubt the first thoughts would be “Hmm, a democratic protest.  They have every right to speak their mind, even if they ARE calling for my destruction”…

So my message to the world: No one likes a cheat.  Play fair.  If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

They don’t want to play fair, they will play where they have the edge and that is by using terror…..hence terrorists and recognition with terrorist actions. So until the world sticks the middle finger to the muslim community in reaction to threats such as these they will keep going, because they get the results they want with what they do. I am basically paraphrasing THIS ARTICLE but you get the pont.
